So why not start something for them on their own. Something where the guys with superbikes and cruisers will feel left out?
Enter the "Scooter Rally", which is held at the same site as the Impala Rally.
There are not as many people as one would have thought, but I'm sure the kids are getting the message and will start attending this event more regularly in the near future.
The Scooter Rally is unique, not only due to the fact that the attendees are mostly on Scooters, but also for the games that are played during the rally.
Gone are the tyre throwing competitions that are so commonly found at rallies. Gone are the tug of war events and the arm wrestling competitions.
In their place are two events that are unique to this rally, namely scooter racing and scooter football.
This year the racing was quite close again, but the real excitement and drama happened around the sacooter soccer matches when one of the guys took Simon Fourie out...literally!...during one of the soccer matches.
The video fo the soccer matches, as well as the famous incident, can be seen on YouTube. The link is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAHloDy375w
Something that I always look for when I'm at a rally, is "Brian's Better Burgers!Duncan (my 16 year old son) and I decided to have some breakfast at the rally.
Now...Anyone who has ever taken a 16 year old to any place will know that he is constantly hungry.
This specific morning I decided to get us each one of Brian's burgers with bacon and egg and fried onions and cheese and all kinds of "lekker" sauces.
The breakfast was around 9:30 and Duncan only asked me for food around 5:30 again!! Any man who can make a burger like that deserves an honourable mention!
