2011-02-26 Impala Rally

I left work at 5pm the Friday of the rally and was heading home after a "lekker" Highveld thunderstorm. It was not raining by the time I headed home, but the roads were quite wet.
I forgot my camera was in my backpack and I also forgot that the Z-1000 makes a wonderful roostertail with the water on the road. The net (Should perhaps be "wet") result was that my camera was floating in my backpack by the time I got home.

Scrap one digital camera and any opportuinty of getting photos at the rally!

There is definite proof that I was at the rally, though. All you have to do is speak to the Therapists of those who spent the weekend in the Coffee Tent with me. :-)

Even though I did walk around and take in the bigger picture around the rally site, I have to confess that the Coffee Tent was where I spent most of my time. (I have the excuse that my leg was acting up a bit with the weather and the uneven terrain, so I'll use that!)

Some chats in the coffee tent were more serious than others, but one thing is for sure...I wouldn't change that time for any other, no matter how tired I was when I got home on Sunday morning!

Those that have been to rallies with me will tell you that I hardly sleep at a rally and spend most of my time keeping others around me awake. I think it may have something to do with the fact that I am "scared" I'm going to miss something!

Whatever it is, I find that the wee hours of the morning yield the most interesting times.

Sometimes this also leads to a time of soul searching and tests of your own character, because this is when the "weirdos" come out to play and they invariably end up at the coffee tent at some stage! :-)

It never ceases to amaze me how many people want to get involved in deep theological discussions at 3am when they are at their "highest", or most intoxicated. Stays a treat, though.

The weather was good. The attendance was good. The food was good. And generally behaviour was good. All-in-all it was a good rally.
