2011-05-07 Nappy Rally

This "rally" started as an annual charity run to "Huis Talje" in Bela-Bela (formerly known as Warmbad) where the participants then hand over donations to the home.

The name of the rally originated from the fact the donations were generally in the form of nappies for the inhabitants of the home.

Everyone stays over at "Hide Away" resort, just outside Warmbad for the rally, and then there is a mass ride to the home on Saturday morning for the handover.

Duncan and I arrived on the Saturday morning, as we had not planned on staying over for the whole weekend.

We found a lot of the PBC "family" there and proceeded to help them prepare a light breakfast, consisting mainly of the wors which had not been braai-ed the previous evening.

Fortunately for me, Duncan spent some time doing the wors-roll thing for a coffee shop in Pretoria, so he is quite a proficient wors-braai-er.

Seeing as he was into the whole serving others-thing, he also made a quick R 50 by washing dishes for the crowd from Phoenix, which allowed me some time to chat to some of the folks outside about the goings-on the night before.

Suffice it to say that there were some interesting stories involving muffins and cookies with parsley, which seem to be a standard ingredient of some visits.

CMA Brits also had a coffee tent/gazebo at the rally, which was a nice "haven" for sitting and reading newspaper early in the morning, apparently.

It was at this coffee tent that Duncan nearly got mauled by the local guard dog, as can be seen from the picture below!
It took all of Duncan's strength and will power to overcome the dog's vicious attacks...

As with every rally, it would not be complete without the obligatory competitions and prizes being handed out. All-in-all another successful event hosted by "Bikers That Care" from Warmbad. Well done, Chris.
