This was a momentous occassion, seeing as it was Thereza's first breakfast run on her new bike.
I led the way on a very round-about route to the Irene Country Lodge, just across the road from the reasonably well known Irene Milk Farm.
The run was about 55km and went from Silverton's clubhouse, via the old Delmas Road, up to Bapsfontein, along the Kempton Road, under the R21, around Olifantsfontein, past the Irene Country Club, up to the Lodge.
The one problem I had with the run, actually had nothing to do with the run itself, which was quite a nice, scenic route with relatively good road surfaces.
No, the problem I had was that we never found out how much breakfast would cost at this lodge before we went there!
The scenery at the Lodge is beautiful and all that, but the breakfast was horrendously expensive! We ended up paying something like R 150 per person for a buffet breakfast!
Definitely a lesson learnt there! ALWAYS find out how much the breakfast is going to be before you actually plan on the route!
You see? My Mother was right when she said: "Everyone has a purpose in life. Unfortunately, sometimes yours will be to serve as a horrible warning to others, though!"
