2011-05-28 Booze Cruise

Another beautiful sunshine day in Pretoria and time for the annual "Booze Cruise" hosted by the Pretoria Chapter of Southern Riders.

As usual, quite a good turnout on the morning, with a large contingent of bikes participating in the cruise.

Some bikes needed a little more persuasion to participate in the ride than others, but everyone got away quite comfortably in the end.

Unfortunately, not all the rides and riders made it back in the same state, though, as "Oom Kobus" from Agamis Elisium apparently decided to take on a truck with his ZX-14 and came short, while someone else also had a slight mishap along the way.

Good thing then that Duncan and I decided to hang around the venue and get more acquainted with my camera.

I decided to try and take some interesting pics of the lake and the power station and the people that remained behind.

When the mass ride came back to the venue, it was time for the games.

Space was a little bit of a problem and the tyre throw had a couple of guys fishing a back tyre out of the waterways surrounding the venue.

Otherwise, though, I had a great time admiring the different styles of throwing a tyre. There was even one dude who tried to throw the tyre using a shotput style...Not very successful, but quite entertaining.

In the end, though, it was quite clear that everyone had a great time and the prize giving was very different!

There were a LOT of lucky draw prizes, but all the boxes were painted black and you had no idea of what was inside a box. Some boxes were quite large, while others were smaller, but you never knew, because sometimes the larger boxes had smaller prizes in them as well.

Great fun and very unpredictable outcomes. I picked one of the medium sized boxes and ended up taking an ice maker home!
